🌟 Julia Roberts’ Bedroom at Greenmount House🌟
⭐️ As stars go, they didn’t come much bigger. Over three decades ago, just after the release of Pretty Woman and Flatliners, arguably the most famous actress in the world at the time arrived in Ireland.
💒 Julia Roberts was due to marry Kiefer Sutherland that very week, but after calling off the wedding, she escaped to Ireland and away from the glare of the world’s paparazzi.
👰 Instead of getting married, Julia ending up having a romantic getaway with Jason Patric which brought them to Di**le and none other then, Greenmount House which resulted in John & Mary being broadcast around the world on her departure.
♠️ Funnily enough it all came about thanks to Jason Patric’s secretary who had stayed at Greenmount House the year previous. She saw John & Mary digging in the garden with a spade, intrigued, she wanted one of her own and purchased one from Foxy John’s. This spade made the trip back to California and resulted in her being known as the lady with the spade.
☎️ One year later a call came from the ‘lady with the spade’ asking to book 2 rooms for her boss and his driver. Little did they know that it would be Jason & Julia arriving at their door step.
🌟 Julia was a lovely person and a fantastic guest who used listen to Pat Kenny at breakfast with John & Mary, laughing at the stories being phoned into Pat about her whereabouts and activites in Ireland. Her trip to Di**le led her to all the famous sites, she visited Bricks pub in Ballyferriter, Tom Longs and Dick Mack’s in Di**le and had dinner in the Beginish restaurant. Her stay consisted of her chilling out in Greenmount House each morning and evening in the lounge areas admiring the views, overlooking Di**le town and harbour.
📸 Nobody knew about her location until after her departure but once word got out, media from all around the world started reaching out to John & Mary which resulted in them being front page news all around the 🌎
