This is my favourite mini Irish road trip 🚗🇮🇪

The Slea Head Drive loops around one of the most spectacular corners of the Di**le Peninsula, squeezing an awful lot into just 38km.

🗺 38km loop with coastal views, ancient sites and golden beaches
📍 Starts and finishes in Di**le Town
⏳ Allow at least 3.5 hours because you'll be stopping regularly along the way

It's short enough to tackle in under half a day, but there's plenty to see if you want to stretch it out.

If you go down to the woods in Northern Ireland, you might just bump into a giant... 👀🌲

Three enormous wooden giants are scattered across the Sperrin Mountains, each hidden in a different location and each with its own name and story.

Finding them is part of the fun:

🗺 Darach (The Guardian): Sitting at the summit of Mullaghcarn Mountain, reached via Gortin Glen Forest Park on a roughly 7.4km return walk

🗺 Ceoldán (The Stargazer): Waiting at OM Dark Sky Park and Observatory

🗺 Nowanois (The Storyteller): Found near Cranagh village along Glenelly Road in the Sperrins

So, if you're heading into the Sperrins, keep an eye out. There are giants in those hills... 👀

There aren't many drives in Ireland where the views are this good in BOTH directions 😍🇮🇪

This is the road climbing away from Ballymastocker Beach in County Donegal, with the Urris Hills rising in the distance ⛰️

It's well worth pulling in at the viewpoint as you climb, where you can safely stop and take in the glorious views back across Ballymastocker Bay and Portsalon 🌊

On a clear day, it's a fairly spectacular little stretch of road to drive!

The glorious Upper Lake in Glendalough from above 😍🇮🇪

Sitting deep in the Glendalough Valley in the Wicklow Mountains, the Upper Lake is surrounded by steep slopes and woodland, making for one impressive view from above.

It's also right beside some of Glendalough's best walking trails, so there are plenty of ways to see it from different angles 🚶

Is this the most unique couples' getaway in Ireland?! 😍🇮🇪

Tucked away on the banks of the River Fane in County Monaghan, this little stone cottage comes with a fairly impressive set-up for two!

🔥 Your own Scandinavian sauna
♨️ A private Canadian hot tub
🥶 A spring-fed plunge pool
🛏️ Super king bed overlooking the river
🍕 And even a wood-fired pizza oven

Throw in the woodland setting and the river flowing right past your door and this looks like a serious spot for switching off for a night or two.

There's a tiny white church sitting at the very top of Croagh Patrick 😮⛪️🇮🇪

Built in 1905, the church stands at the summit of Ireland's holiest mountain, 764 metres above Clew Bay.

For more than a century, it has weathered everything the Mayo coast can throw at it, while generations of pilgrims have made the climb to the summit.

On Reek Sunday, the last Sunday in July, thousands traditionally climb Croagh Patrick, with Mass celebrated high above Clew Bay.

This is the view from the 1,972 foot high Slieve League Cliffs in Donegal, one of the tallest sea cliffs in Europe 😲

These cliffs are nearly three times higher than the Cliffs of Moher and almost twice the height of the Eiffel Tower ⛰️ You’ll find them on the southwest coast of Donegal, about 15 minutes from Carrick and 30 from Killybegs 🗺

I've been here 7/8 times over the years and this was the first time that I've visited when there was zero mist/cloud cover! 🌬🌬

From the lower car park it’s a steep 30 minute walk to the viewing point on a paved but steep road 🥾 You can also park at the visitor centre and take the shuttle to the top 🚌

Ireland's gateway to the underworld.... 😲🇮🇪

Off the western tip of Dursey Island in West Cork sit three dramatic rocks: Cow Rock, Bull Rock and Calf Rock 🐮

Bull Rock, pictured here, is easily the most unusual of the three. A huge natural tunnel runs right through the island, giving it an almost otherworldly appearance.

When conditions allow, boat tours can take you out around Bull Rock for a closer look ⛵

It really does look like something whipped straight from a Pirates of the Caribbean movie!

Locations for Irish castles don't come much more dramatic than this 😮🇮🇪

Perched between the cliffs and the sand, Ballybunion Castle has one of the best locations of any castle ruin in Ireland 😍🏰

Built by the Fitzmaurice family in the early 1500s, the castle stands on the site of an even older promontory fort in County Kerry 🇮🇪

It was destroyed in 1582, but its ruins still tower above Ballybunion's famous Ladies and Men's beaches today 🌊

And from the air, you get the full picture, with the castle, beach and towering cliffs all packed into one spectacular stretch of coastline.

This 31km wall climbs across some of the highest peaks in the Mourne Mountains 😲🪨

The Mourne Wall stretches for around 31km (19.5 miles) across summits, ridges and valleys in County Down.

Built between 1904 and 1922, its job was a practical one: to enclose the catchment area that supplied water to the Silent Valley Reservoir and keep livestock away 💧

The wall was built entirely from local granite using dry-stone techniques, with stonemasons working across steep mountain terrain from spring to autumn.

Along the way, it crosses 15 summits, including Slieve Donard, the highest mountain in Northern Ireland ⛰️

More than 100 years after it was completed, much of the Mourne Wall is still standing.
