Welcome to Castle Durrow Country House ✨

For us, this house has always been more than a hotel, it’s our home.

I grew up here, watching my parents, Peter and Shelly Stokes, lovingly restore and care for this beautiful old house. Through their vision, hard work and dedication, Castle Durrow became not just a destination, but a place where generations of guests have celebrated life’s most special moments.

Today, Robin and I are privileged to continue that story, raising our own children, Florence and Beau, amongst the same gardens and hallways that hold so many memories for me and my siblings.

Seeing them run through the grounds I once explored as a child reminds us just how special this place truly is. Every generation leaves its mark, and it feels incredibly special to be part of Castle Durrow’s next chapter.

As parents ourselves now, we appreciate more than ever what Peter and Shelly created here. Their love and dedication laid the foundations for so many happy memories, and we hope to pass that same care, warmth and sense of home on to the next generation.

Through the years, Castle Durrow has been a place where memories are made, friendships are formed and families come together. It is a privilege to welcome guests from near and far, and we hope that when you visit, you’ll feel at home too.

✨ A Country House Collaboration to Remember ✨

Friday 27th March

We are delighted to unveil a very special collaboration between two beautiful Irish country houses. Castle Durrow Country House Hotel and Eden Hall Estate, for a one-of-a-kind, experience-led overnight escape.

Your journey begins at Castle Durrow, where you’ll check into a Rose Yard bedroom overlooking our spectacular fountain and blooming David Austin roses. Spend the afternoon exploring our historic walled garden or enjoying a game of padel tennis at The Pavilion.

That evening, indulge in a three-course dinner in Coopers Restaurant, curated by Head Chef Graham Gallagher and his team, followed by cocktails by the roaring fire in Hunter’s Bar, the perfect country house retreat.

After a restful night, wake to a hearty Irish breakfast overlooking our south-facing lawn before heading onward to the next chapter of your escape.

Just a stone’s throw away in the village of Ballyragget lies the enchanting Eden Hall Estate, a beautifully preserved Georgian country house dating back to the 1700s. You’ll be welcomed into the home of owners Rachel & Darran for a day of design inspiration, candle making, a seasonal light lunch and a glass of bubbles.

The workshop, led by Kilkenny-based aromatherapist Essie May will take place in Eden Hall’s atmospheric Granary Kitchen. Each guest will create their own healing oil blend and pour it into a pure soya wax candle, a beautiful keepsake of this special collaboration ✨
