We’re delighted to showcase the beautiful work of local artist Franziska Freitag of in one of our lovely townhouse bedrooms, now affectionately known as ‘the pink room’ at The Lansdowne.

This bedroom has slowly become a room filled with things we love. Handwoven rug of soft blues, blush pinks and creams, books on a sulking room pink bookcase by Irish authors sit alongside old favourites and classics, including Emma, with little details collected and chosen simply because they belong there.

And now, a piece of Kerry on the wall.

Franziska’s abstract work takes its inspiration from nature and the Irish landscape, where its soft blush tones play with texture and light so that the painting subtly changes throughout the day.

We’ve love the idea that a stay at the Lansdowne should reveal a little of its history, heritage and community, in the food on your plate, the books beside your bed, the people you meet and the art on the walls.

For now, we think this one has found exactly the right room 💗

We’re delighted to have been shortlisted for a Irish Food & Hospitality Award 2026.

These awards are particularly special as they’re based entirely on independent assessments carried out by experienced industry experts, so this recognition means a great deal to us.

Most of all, we’re delighted for our wonderful team 🧡 They put so much care, warmth and hard work into The Lansdowne every day and this is very well deserved.

Patrick and I are incredibly proud of them all and we’re looking forward to heading to Dublin next week for the awards🤞

And as we head into autumn and winter in Kenmare, a little reminder that The Lansdowne Restaurant is staying open midweek throughout the winter, while many of our fellow restaurants around town take their well earned midweek break.

So if you’re looking for somewhere cosy for dinner in Kenmare on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evening, we’ll be here, the fires will be lighting and the kitchen will be cooking.
