Have you signed up for the Valentia Sprint Triathlon yet?

There’s still time to register before 1 September and get the training in for Saturday, 26 September.

Do it for the PB.
Do it for the post-race pint.
Do it for the bragging rights.
Do it for your community.
Or simply do it because you can.

Every entry helps support the Valentia Island Community Hospital, so every finish line means something more.

At the summit of 618 ancient stone steps, rising from the wild Atlantic, stands the timeless monastery of Skellig Michael.

For centuries, those who undertook this extraordinary ascent shared the same muinín—a quiet confidence, steadfast resilience, and unwavering resolve shaped by Ireland's untamed western edge.

Those 618 steps became more than our inspiration. They became our name. Their enduring geometry is woven into every label we create, a tribute to the belief that the greatest rewards are found at the end of the hardest climbs.

Every bottle in the Six18 Step Collection is a celebration of character forged through perseverance, inspired by one of Ireland's most awe-inspiring and storied landscapes.

🍂 **Something exciting is coming to Valentia this September...**

Whether you enjoy a leisurely stroll, a challenging coastal walk, discovering local history, listening to fascinating stories, exploring heritage, taking in breathtaking scenery or simply spending time with friends, there's something to look forward to this autumn.

From **18-20 September**, the **Valentia Walking & History Festival** will celebrate everything that makes our island so special.

The **Valentia Walking & History Festival voluntary organising committee** is currently developing an exciting programme of guided walks, heritage experiences, history talks, family activities, music and opportunities to discover the stories, landscapes and people that have shaped Valentia over generations.

This year's festival will also mark the **160th anniversary of the successful transatlantic cable of 1866**, celebrating the connection that placed Valentia at the heart of one of the world's greatest communications achievements.

The programme is still being finalised, with plenty more to be announced in the coming weeks. The committee will be sharing details of the walks, guest speakers, family events and other activities, along with information on how to register.

For now, mark the dates in your diary...

📅 **18-20 September 2026**

The voluntary organising committee looks forward to welcoming walkers, history enthusiasts, families and visitors from near and far for what promises to be a memorable weekend on Valentia Island.

Please like, share and tag anyone who loves walking, history, heritage and discovering new places.
