Joe Mc’s pub, thankfully, is still very much alive in Louisburgh. This business has seen many generations of McNamaras in business in Louisburgh.
Joe’s Grandfather, William McNamara, opened the shop in 1852, McNamara’s bar and drapery, selling boots, shoes, Wellingtons, ladies' and men’s wear and suits. After William died, his wife Honora ran the shop.
The next generation to run the shop was Paddy and Tess McNamara, Joe’s parents.
In 1972, Joe and his wife Marion took over the shop, soon after, they closed the drapery and developed the pub over the years. Joe's son Darragh now runs the pub.
We wish McNamara’s continued success in Louisburgh.
