In loving memory of our esteemed leader, Don Buckley, we regret to inform you that our 75th Anniversary Night, scheduled for September 5th, has been cancelled as a mark of respect.
We sincerely thank you all for your understanding during this difficult time. We hope to have the opportunity to meet with many of you at the hotel in the coming months.
Our thoughts are with Don's family and all who knew him.

The Buckley family and staff of the Castle Hotel would like to thank everyone for all their kind words, support and condolences for Don over the last few days.

Our hearts are broken but we are so grateful for the send off you all gave to Don.

Thank you to the town of Macroom for the beautiful guard of honour. Don would have loved it❤️

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Don Buckley, Castle Hotel Macroom.

Don was our leader and hero in the hotel and guided us all for many years. He worked tirelessly all his life alongside his family and late father and mother to bring the hotel to where it is today.

He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, customers and staff of the hotel.

We would like to thank everyone for all their kind wishes over the past few weeks and days.

As a mark of respect the hotel will be closed on Monday 24th August the day of Don’s funeral.

As part of our celebrations on Saturday, 5th September, we are extending a very special invitation to all former staff members to come back and join us. Whether you worked for a summer, a season or many years, we would love to welcome you back to reminisce, reconnect and share cherished memories.

The Castle Hotel has been built on the hard work, loyalty and friendships of so many people over the past 75 years, and this celebration is our opportunity to say thank you.

🎉 Celebrating 75 Years of Hospitality at The Castle Hotel Macroom

On Saturday, 5th September, the Buckley Family will proudly celebrate 75 years of welcoming guests to The Castle Hotel Macroom, a remarkable milestone in Irish hospitality.

The story began in 1951, when Dan and Maureen Buckley arrived in Macroom and took over what was then Ronan’s Hotel, a small ten-bedroom property. Through generations of dedication, hard work and a genuine passion for hospitality, the hotel has grown into the 56 bedroom four-star destination it is today.

Now in its third generation, The Castle Hotel Macroom continues to offer the warm welcome and personal touch that have been at the heart of the business for over seven decades.

The Buckley family would like to thank their incredible staff, loyal guests, suppliers, friends and the local community who have been part of this journey and helped create countless memories along the way.

They are especially looking forward to welcoming back former staff members for this special milestone celebration, a chance to reconnect, share stories and celebrate the journey and the people who have helped shape The Castle Hotel Macroom.
