What began as an overgrown corner of the yard revealed one of the most exciting discoveries of the entire restoration ✨

When the grounds behind the Church and Manse were cleared, the ruins of the original Georgian Coach House emerged from beneath years of ivy and overgrowth.

Once an important part of the original Georgian property, the building had been largely forgotten from view.

Rather than allowing it to disappear into history, Eugene saw an opportunity to bring it back to life. With the support of Laois Partnership grant funding, the Coach House was carefully restored and transformed into a beautifully appointed two-bedroom self-contained accommodation.

Today, guests can enjoy a peaceful retreat while staying in a building that has been part of this site's story for centuries.

Perhaps the greatest surprise wasn't what was built here, but what was waiting to be discovered all along 🌿

Not every part of The Forum-Mountmellick's story was hidden inside its walls 🌿

When restoration began, the outdoor spaces told a very different story. Areas that had once been cluttered, neglected and largely forgotten offered little hint of what they would become.

As work progressed, these spaces were reimagined as welcoming courtyards and gardens, creating places for guests to relax, gather and enjoy the surroundings.

Today, colourful flowers and outdoor seating provide a peaceful setting that feels worlds away from the yards that once occupied these spaces.

Sometimes the biggest transformations happen outside the front door ✨
