Never thought I’d be eating banana skins!

Last night we hosted the brilliant Yvonne Carty of Hey Pesto! at the Glamp House kitchen in our Hobbit Village for a ‘Sustainably Delicious’ cooking demo as part of the Laois Climate Action Festival with Laois County Council

Yvonne was creative & entertaining, and her advice was easy to follow:

🔥 Stick to the shopping list.
🔥Choose local, seasonal produce.
🔥And everything tastes better with cheese.
(Irish cheese, of course!)

And I can’t stop thinking about her BBQ banana skin recipe!!

Hosting this event ties in with what we love doing at the glampsite - connecting guests with nature in our wildflower meadows, recycling & waste reduction, and encouraging guests to visit the many fab local foodie places near us: Mueller & O'Connell Bakery, Bowe's Foodhall & Cafe , Temptation Chocolates Boutique , O’Connell’s Pub Cullohill , Bramley to name but a few!

Join us! For a FREE Deliciously Sustainable cookery demo (& a snoop around our hobbit village).

This fun & tasty event - hosted by cookery whizz Yvonne Carty of Hey Pesto! - is completely free, but places are limited, so booking is essential!

🥲Well… we didn’t take home the top trophy at the Business Energy Achievement Awards on Wednesday night…

BUT…
🏆We kinda feel like winners anyway - just to have created this magical place, and to have made our site more sustainable, more biodiverse, more accessible, and, we think, more beautiful, in the process.

👏A massive congratulations to the category winners (Hodson Bay Group), and all our fellow nominees for their inspiring work in sustainability.

🤩To see our little family-run site in County Laois standing alongside giants of Irish hospitality on a national stage was a huge win in itself.

🙏A heartfelt thank you to everyone who sent messages of support and luck over the last few days.

🔥It means the world to us.

So proud that our gorgeous Treehouse cabins & Eco-Lodge project has been shortlisted for the ‘Energy Excellence in Tourism’ Award at tonight’s Business Energy Achievement Awards in Dublin!

Finalists include Irish hospitality superstars Adare Manor (!) so to be on the same shortlist is a huge moment for our small, family-run glamping business in County Laois 🤩.

While a health issue keeps me from celebrating in Dublin tonight, I want to wish all our fellow nominees a fantastic evening.

And congratulations to everyone leading the way in sustainable business practices across Ireland.
