🌿 National Biodiversity Week Events (15th – 24th May) at Portumna Castle🍃
🔎🐞 During Biodiversity week, with ticketed entry, children can take part in Biodiversity Bingo, which leads them around the castle grounds and gardens exploring nature. All correct entries will be entered into a draw, with one winner drawn to win a copy of “The Great Irish Biodiversity Book” by Éanna Ní Lamhna. Further information at the reception areas.
🌻🐦On Wednesday 20th May at 11.30 am and 2.00 pm, Lynn O’Keeffe, OPW Craft Gardener and Biodiversity Champion, will lead a FREE Garden Biodiversity walk, and will share tips on how to encourage wildlife into your gardens.
🌲🐿️ On Thursday, 21st May, at 2pm, Lynn will present “Growing Trees for Wildlife”. This FREE talk, which takes place in the Gallery, will look at how plants, birds, and animals depend on trees for survival – by providing food, cover, shelter, and nesting sites.
🌳🚶♀️On Sunday, 24th May at 2pm, Noel Larkin will bring visitors on a leisurely walk as he discusses the importance of trees around the castle with particular emphasis on the Mulberry tree. He will also discuss the folklore of trees. This is also a FREE event.
