Now comes the season we secretly wait all year for: crisper mornings, low gold light, the smell of woodsmoke in the air, counting the cattle dotted across the fields on blustery afternoon walks and cheeks warmed by the fire as you return to your cottage. Autumn has made itself right at home, and we’re welcoming it with open arms.

For those drawn towards cocooning spaces and cottages made for the ‘ber seasons
Where the sofa becomes somewhere to settle for an evening spent fireside with your favourite novel or some healthy competition between the generations with your favourite board games.
Cosy season has arrived at Clonalis House Cottages - chunky socks and red w**e at the ready.

As the season turns and the days shorten, with the evenings draw in, our cottages are the perfect base for gatherings, comfort and family rituals. Explore the bucolic countryside, linger over a long lunch and return to the warmth of the fire as evening falls.
The simple pleasure of slowing down, curling up on the sofa and softly lighting the corners where daylight no longer lingers.
Here’s to the golden promise of cosy autumn days ahead.

"Late August, given heavy rain and sun
For a full week, the blackberries would ripen.
At first, just one, a glossy purple clot
Among others, red, green, hard as a knot.
You ate that first one and its flesh was sweet
Like thickened w**e: summer's blood was in it
Leaving stains upon the tongue and lust for picking."

Seamus Heaney, Blackberry Picking

There is a point in the year when everything begins to feel a little bit different. Cooler mornings, earlier evenings and a sense of beginning in the air,
Autumn, a season of comfort, simple pleasures and the beauty of natures slower pace.
