Waterford FC are in the FAI Cup quarter final on the opening night of the Harvest Festival.

Friday 4 September, Waterford FC against Sligo Rovers at the Regional Sports Centre. The Waterford Harvest Festival runs that Friday to Sunday 6 September, across the city, with a mix of free and ticketed events.

If anyone is coming to you for either, there are rooms at the Fitzwilton Hotel on Bridge Street for the Friday and the Saturday.

The plate in the photo is head chef Jason Condron's, from the Met Bar kitchen. The Met Bar serves lunch from twelve until three and an evening menu from three. Service runs to half nine on the Friday and the Saturday.

Fifteen per cent off, and a Wednesday in October to spend it on.

The Autumn Sale is live on the Fitzwilton Hotel site now, 15 per cent off bed and breakfast on selected dates.

Midweek in October the city moves at walking pace. The Waterford Greenway trailhead and the Viking Triangle are both a walk from the door.

Congratulations to Lynn.

There is a list on the Fitzwilton Hotel's TripAdvisor page of the things guests mention most often. Met Bar. The penthouse. Car park. Breakfast room.

And then one name. Lynn.

She is the only person on that list, out of 1,191 reviews.

One guest last week wrote that she "made sure everyone had what they need". Another said Lynn looked after them for three nights in the bar. That is her, exactly.

Some people are simply good with other people. Lynn is one of those, and our guests spotted it long before we handed her anything.

So she has won our July award for the most positive guest mentions. Decided entirely by the people she looks after, which is the best way to win it.

That is when the CAO round one offers land, and a lot of houses in Ireland find out where the next four years happen.

If the answer is Waterford, come down and look at the place properly before you accept. Round one offers close at three o'clock on Tuesday the 1st of September, so there is a week in it.

Have a walk around the city, see the accommodation, and make the decision with your eyes rather than a prospectus.

We have rooms on Tuesday the 25th, Wednesday the 26th and Thursday the 27th of August at the Fitzwilton Hotel on Bridge Street, in the middle of town. Free parking on site, though it is limited.

Waterford Walls has run ten days and more than seventy artists have painted across the city. Today is the last of it.

The murals do not leave with them. Everything painted this week is still on the wall next week, and the week after that.

Walk the trail on Monday or Tuesday when the city is yours, then come and sit down in the Met Bar at the Fitzwilton Hotel on Bridge Street.
