I'm not able to log into our Instagram account for theshelterhosteleilat since we came home from our trip on the Camino where my phone was damaged in the rain necessitating a new one. Hope I'll be able to reconnect soon. So I didn't post on Instagram thus not here either. Now I'm sending a few pictures from the past few weeks. Though it's hot these days, we still do hikes in the mountains near Eilat by going out early. We're thankful for the summer so far, a good team of volunteers and mostly Israeli guests.

Volunteers come and go, and we're thankful for each one. We believe that for them, being here is an opportunity for growth and for us, our lives are enriched through them. Now it's Kay's turn to leave. He arrived not long before the war with Iran and proved to be calm and a blessing to all who met him. We're encouraged by how God always provides the right people at the right time. Maybe someone reading this would like to volunteer with us or knows someone else who would? As we've said before, we love having former return to visit. During this period, Sofia, Jos and Alinda, and Suki arrived and have been giving us a hand exactly when we were short of help. If any volunteer would like to come, you are always welcome for as long as you are able to stay.
In the meantime, we are looking for new volunteers. Those interested should be followers of Jesus Christ who enjoy sharing their life and faith with others and living in . Preference is given to people between the ages of 20 and 35 who can stay for three months. We provide room and board. Anyone interested can email us to [email protected], and we'll send more information. Please feel free to share this post.

After the rain yesterday, we drove out to see the results of the floods. The closest place was Ein Evrona, one of the stops of the children of Israel when they left Egypt (Numbers 33:34), and just 15 minutes from our house. We weren't disappointed and saw streams and lakes in the normally dry desert, a sight we don't see every year.
Speaking about the future, Isaiah the prophet wrote, "For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert. The parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water," (Is 35:6,7).

Rain is so unusual in Eilat. First we prepare, then enjoy the rain, go flood chasing, and experience the desert. I think we had half our annual rainfall this afternoon
