nowned for its traditional hospitality. Mahatma Gandhi first stayed in this house on arrival from South Africa in 1917. Replete with courtyards and verandahs overflowing with greenery, it is comfortably conditioned in all enclosed spaces with free Wifi. Walking through the meandering corridors, there are pleasant surprises around every corner (including a couple of domesticated cats that can be found lounging around) . The House of MG has been tastefully restored, with all its furniture and fixtures designed and sourced from local artisans. Mangaldas ni Haveli I and II, both restored havelis, are located at a distance of 2 km from The House of MG, in the very midst of the pols. There is a cafe serving snacks and juices at Mangaldas ni Haveli II. Residents at these annexes can avail of all facilities at the main hotel. LOCATION
The House of MG is conveniently located, at a distance of 7 kms from the airport and 2 kms from the railway station, 4 km from CG Road and 11 kms from SG highway, whether you are visiting for business or for pleasure. The city’s main heritage attractions like Sidi Saiyad Mosque, Bhadra Fort, Juma Masjid and Manek Chowk leading to the famous ‘pols‘ are within walking distance. The famed river-front boulevard and gardens are just a stone’s throw from the front entrance. The Green House Cafe is on the ground floor in a semi open courtyard offering gujarati and South Indian Snacks, comfort food from the continent as well as Fresh juices and Ice-creams. Pol Kholi Cafe is located in Mangaldas ni Haveli II, offering similar snacks and fresh juices. OTHER FACILITIES
Within the house of MG is an indoor swimming pool, a gym, a spa as well as a unique artisanal store that specialises in products ranging from bodycare and gourmet foods to gifts heritage books and exquisite heirloom products. There is also a textile gallery showcasing spectacular antique textiles from the family collection. Our Conference and Banquet spaces can accommodate up to 400 guests.
