Friends, travellers, seekers for volunteer placements,

We are looking for volunteers in KHAJURAHO, who help us with building a bamboo fence and assist In constructing a mudhouse.
It’s helpful if you have some basic DIY skills and can lend a hand. But we also believe that anyone can learn anything if they’re willing to try.
You don’t need any special knowledge about the mudhouse construction , although we’re always happy to hear your input and new perspectives. Locals will be leading the construction of the mudhouse here. You’re welcome to lend a hand, ask questions, or share your suggestions.

Where: Khajuraho (Madhya Pradesh, India)
Minimum stay: 1 week (although we recommend longer stays)
We provide: food and stay
We expect: 4hrs work per day (5 days/week)

This is our hotel garden and the place where the fence and mudhouse will be constructed.
What the mudhouse will be for: we work together with local women who are specialists in cooking delicious local food. But for this we also need an authentic work place with chulha (traditional cooking stove) in an half open place - our future mudhouse 😁

There are many different ways to reach Khajuraho. This overview is intended to provide a general guide. There are certainly many more ways and creative routes via surrounding cities 😁. There are so many interesting sites and beautiful natural landscapes to admire in Madhya Pradesh. 🛕🌳

Many travellers to India follow the Golden Triangle when touring Northern India. It is a very common travel route between Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Varanasi (Kashi), which is said to be one of the world‘s oldest continually inhabited cities is also located in North India and very popular.
How convenient that Khajuraho is located between these cities 🤗

💡Small tip from us: if you reach Khajuraho via Jhansi, don’t miss to check out the beautiful small City Orchha.

Maybe some of you have noticed that our website has been inactive for a few weeks now 🚧.
Our domain had expired and we decided to use this opportunity to sit with and reevaluate our work. To look back at where we started and see where we are now. Aarambh started 2023 with the Aarambh Residency -our family-run hotel in Khajuraho. The residency was meant to be the starting point for a growing community—a place for visitors and responsible tourists, and at the same time an emerging hub of opportunities for volunteers and people interested in creating a creative community 🫂
Give us a little more time to organize our thoughts and memories and to move forward with the website redesign in an „natural“ way. We could also have the AI generate a finished product for us. But we’ve decided to work on the website ourselves as much as possible. So please be patient 😁🤣🫶

We are once again ready to accept volunteers. For the upcoming 2026/2027 season, we are now looking for dedicated, open-minded, and creative people.

Here’s a quick recap of what Aarambh is all about:
We have a vision of shaping a small self-sustained, creative, community space — even though this project is still in the early stages of development and requires a lot of initiative, creativity, passion and love.
Our main focus right now is on making our running hotel and restaurant flourish and become a place where people can retreat and host mindful and conscious events (music & arts, holistic practices, a local market...).
We are also renovating the volunteer house in the old village where we also want to plant gardens.
