As India faced the devastating impact of recent floods and landslides across several regions, the need for support was felt far beyond the affected communities.
As part of IHG’s ‘Giving for Good’ campaign, InterContinental Marine Drive proudly partnered with Goonj Foundation through its disaster relief and rehabilitation initiative, ‘Raahat’, to extend support to communities affected by the crisis. In September, we launched a donation drive at the hotel, inviting our colleagues and guests to come together and contribute towards the relief efforts. Aligned with our Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, the initiative brought the spirit of the Vighnaharta (the remover of obstacles) to life through collective action and compassion. The response from our colleagues was truly heartening, with many stepping forward to contribute and support the cause. Guests attending the prayer ceremonies also joined the initiative, generously adding to the collective effort.
Together, we collected a truckload of clothing, hotel linen and duvets, along with essential supplies. We also contributed towards medical supplies and daily necessities, including staples, pulses, groceries and ready-to-eat food items, helping extend meaningful support to those affected. More than a relief drive, this was a reminder of what can happen when people come together with a shared purpose. Because when we come together, even a small act of kindness can go a long way.
