The Neelakurinji is blooming again at Korandakkadu, near Mattupetty — first time since 2014. Slopes washed in blue-violet, bees working overtime, and a flower that waited over a decade for this. We're a short drive away. Worth the trip while it lasts.

Once every twelve years, the hills of KorandaKadu turn blue.

The Neelakurinji doesn't bloom for anyone in particular, and maybe that's what makes it feel so rare. Right now, the slopes here are covered in it, small purple-blue flowers stretching out toward the mist, with the Western Ghats standing quiet in the background. It's the kind of sight Munnar waits over a decade for, and this season, it's ours to witness.
