✨ Aerial silks Photoshoot at our Basic to Brilliance retreat

We love incorporating photoshoots into some of our retreats, making the most of TK’s background in photography to capture movement, practice, and the atmosphere of the retreat.

For this aerial silks shoot, we set up the rig in a beautiful spot on our property, with the open sky and rolling hills of Umbria as our backdrop 😍

✨ BASIC TO BRILLIANCE — DAY 3

Day 3 brought us deeper into the theory of aerial movement!

We explored wheel-down pathways and the theory behind S and Z wraps, breaking down the transitions, understanding the mechanics, and discovering more ways to navigate the silks by understanding following the tail to exit. Because the more we understand the theory, the more possibilities we unlock in the air!

In the afternoon, we traded the silks for a little adventure through history 🏛️ We enjoyed a guided tour of the Roman ruins of Carsulae, before heading to San Gemini for dinner during its magical medieval festival. 🏰🍷

✨ BASIC TO BRILLIANCE — DAY 2

Today’s theory was all about SHAPES! 🤸‍♀️

We started with a little puppet & puppeteer game to explore movement, control, and connection… then took the concept into the air! From there, we played with all the different shapes we could create from a cross-back, discovering new possibilities and ways to use the silks to transform our movements.
Because sometimes, it’s not just about getting into a shape — it’s about understanding how we create it.

After a day of brain gymnastics and aerial exploration, it was time to switch gears and head to the terme for some well-deserved relaxation. 💆‍♀️

And to end the day? An evening watching a thunderstorm rumble in the distance. Nature putting on their own little show!

Learning, playing, relaxing, and sharing the magic. That’s day 2 of Basic to Brilliance. ❤️

✨ BASIC TO BRILLIANCE — DAY 1

A little aperitivo to kick off the retreat, and then straight into the deep end! 🥂

Day 1 was all about exploring the theory behind the aerial hip key — discovering different body pathways, understanding base positions, and learning how to transition between them.

Do we move our bodies around the silks, or move the silks around our bodies? 🤔 A whole new world of possibilities opened up!

After a full-on day of learning, we slowed things down with a restorative Pilates session on the machines. Then came a cosy evening of w**e, cappuccino, good company… and a kitten who was VERY determined to steal the cheese off the table. 🧀😂

Brains full, bodies happy, hearts even fuller. And this is only day one! ✨
