For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to gather the words and images that tell and keep safe the story of home.

And here it is.

“The Real Lake Como” is the first magazine from Belvedere Bellagio, a testament to the quieter, most authentic side of the lake.

We gave the word to those who live this land - the farmers, the fishermen, the people who shape the rhythms of this place every day. These pages hold our favourite corners of Bellagio, a day on the water with a real laghée, a recipe from our chef de cuisine Marco, and something more personal: the story of my family. It’s our way of saying: slow down, look closer, and let the lake show you what it’s really made of.

A heartfelt thank you to the people who didn’t just open their doors, but their hearts. Who trusted us with stories they had never shared before, and let us carry them into these pages.

Piera Sancassani from , Christian our cheese refiner, Aurelia from , Dr. Milani from , Chicco and his Queen Helen , Bruna - our housekeeper and one of the quiet souls of this home, Andrea - who has been leading our Bar for over 31 years, Franco - my right hand and a true laghée, Mattia - my other half and dream partner. This magazine is yours too.

Also, a big thank you to the FERUS fam for bringing this project to life with such care and craft, and to Nicolas Quiniou, whose special lens captured the soul of this lake throughout these pages, alongside Jan Andrea Moroder, Michael Mair am Tinkhof, Gianni Baumann and Kim Pham.

I still remember sitting on the rooftops of Belvedere Bellagio with my grandfather, seeing Bellagio from above for the first time. Something shifted quietly in me that day.

Living here teaches you to notice things differently.
The changing reflections on the water, the lake never shows the same face twice.

Franco often says that from the silence of the mountains, you finally understand the lake - and the meaning of home. I think he’s right.

Maybe this is the difference between visiting a place and truly living it. Little by little, it becomes part of you.

They were intense days. Full, unexpected, and deeply felt. The weather kept us inside, but it allowed something else to happen.

The focus shifted to what really matters here - the people, the spaces, the way we care for those who walk through the door.

Between the garden, the lake and the table, we moved together, slowly, making space for silence, conversation, creativity and simple things.For the hands, the body, the breath, and for that natural way of reconnecting with what surrounds us.

Hearing that our guests felt at home, in a way that felt genuine and unscripted, is the most meaningful recognition I could ask for.

This is what hospitality means to me.
This was SLOW - a FERUS retreat.

And suddenly, I began to see my mother from a new perspective - not just working, but caring for this house and for the people who live it every day.

Without even realizing it, that way of caring slowly became part of me.

Now, after everything she has lived through - the light and the dark - my main wish for Belvedere Bellagio is to make her proud.

I remember running through the gardens, hiding between the trees, barefoot on the grass.

Today, I walk the same paths more slowly. The scents, the light, the feeling - they’re still the same.

With my mother, I find those memories again.

I, Giulia, grew up climbing the trees in our garden and now I watch my children Pietro and Tommaso do the same. Talking with my mother brings me back to where it all began, while opening a path to the future.
