Oh, here it is again, Christmas.
A moment when we become as tender as panettone and see the lights not only on our neighbors’ houses but also in people’s eyes. Christmas has the rare strength to silence thoughts and let feelings lead. For a brief moment, we take off our coats of sorrow and stress and let sugar, wine, and love warm us.
Sharing each other’s company, whether in the snowy mountains or on top of that hill between Tuscany and Umbria.
Christmas invites us to mute our timers and let our schedules be filled only with family and loved ones.

Sometimes a look replaces a river of words, silence can weigh more than a mountain, and a smile can change your entire vision of the world.
These are values we learn from our dog Frank at Cozzano.
Always there, pouring love, sometimes to friends, sometimes to strangers. And often, a stranger becomes a friend in the glimpse of an eye.
In all of this, he has no expectation of receiving anything in return. He senses when you need someone close and respects your space while enjoying his own independence.
He is simply himself, and you can understand him, without a single word.
So many times we try to fill emptiness with talks, while still feeling far from each other and judging the other person.
Frank is wise, he doesn’t get lost in discussions. He doesn’t care if we own expensive cars, big houses, or designer clothes.
For him, a rotten ball is enough.
He doesn’t care if you’re rich or poor, brilliant or foolish.
If you give Frank your heart, he will give you his.

Autumn at Cozzano is all about wrapping up in a hundred layers and still staying outside, lights turning wheat fields into gold and clouds freshly painted across the sky.
The days get shorter, and hugs last longer, whilst feeling the warmth of every candle surrounding us.
There’s a romantic silence in the air, so natural we hardly notice it. Shadows marking their territory, and people trying not to get caught by them.

What a beautiful mess of burning candles, lip-stained glasses, tipsy laughter, and wine bottles that stay always half full throughout the whole night.
A scene that recalls the famous golden ages, those some of us remember, and others only dream of.
People seem surprised by their own ease. All sorrows left at home, but stories carried with them, ready to be shared.
Olive trees turned into designer lamps, illuminating this perfectly vibrant scene.
A secret here, a random question there people leaving the table as friends, or perhaps just as unforgettable seating partners.

What a wild September! 
After the hot and lazy summer months, we finally get up from the sunbeds and put on our dancing shoes. The temperatures cool down, and our energy rises, just enough to celebrate all night long.
These are the nights when people lose their shoes, wineglasses, and worries all at once. While other places start to move indoors, we still embrace the sun’s warm gifts and, of course, eat outside.
September is stained napkins swinging through the air, hot pizza on wheels, and tables so long you lose sight of the end.

Che festa! Our first Italian wedding at Cozzano.
A touch of honest romance is in the air. The one written about in books, the one we dream of in our younger years.
It’s early June and the first days of summer arrived with unexpected heat.
The wedding couple and their loved ones are, just moments before the ceremony, still sipping spritzes by the pool and cooling down their bodies & minds in the cold water.
There’s a certain energy that explains why the Italians are the inventors of la dolce vita.
A culture that lets men shed tears of joy, and doesn’t require shared blood to call someone family. A spirit where even at the longest tavolata, everyone truly feels like they are eating together.

Many nights passed as we imagined creating this space.
 A place where people finish their glass of red wine after dinner, gathered around the fireplace. Where new strategies are born over a game of chess, and the labels of Italian liqueurs are discussed.
A place where time and sorrows are forgotten, where the weather and the temperature outside no longer matter, and where the glasses are always half full, never half empty.

This place we dreamed of has become reality. The fire is lit and the bottle is popped. You see that seat over there? It’s yours!

Winter break is a fusion of memories from the last season and dreams for the next. Nature is drinking some Italian rain to stay hydrated, while animals are resting to become their wildest and most beautiful selves in spring.

Frank, our dog, is checking if the builders are maintaining the quality of work that was established 500 years ago, during restoration works.

All of us are waiting for the Villa to be filled again with souls from all over the world, lovers, independent solo travelers, friends and families strengthening their bonds.
