Ogni piccolo passo conta.

From an Abandoned Stable to a Space of Rebirth

These two images tell a story that goes far beyond the transformation of a building.

When I began this project, this place was an abandoned stable. Today it has become Nuragic Temple: a space for hospitality, research, spirituality, culture and meaningful encounters in the heart of Esterzili.
For me, this is not simply about restoring an old house.

Esterzili is the village of my paternal roots. It is connected to my ancestors, to the stories I heard as a child and to a sense of belonging that has always remained alive within me. Returning here and investing my energy in this project is my way of giving something back to the land from which I come.

But Nuragic Temple also carries a wider meaning.

In the small villages of Sardinia’s inland areas, often affected by depopulation and isolation, every abandoned building can become a possibility. It may not always become a large project. Sometimes it is simply a seed: a house reopened, a workshop, a place for creativity, a space capable of welcoming people, ideas and new connections.
I believe the rebirth of these territories cannot come only from the outside. It also begins with those who choose to return, to remain, or to create bridges between their village and the wider world.

Nuragic Temple is my way of building that bridge: between Sardinia and Ireland, which has become my second home over the years, but also between Sardinia and the world.

This bridge has been made possible through the friendships, collaborations and international connections that I have patiently created and nurtured over time. People from different countries now arrive in Esterzili, discover the village, encounter its history and experience its landscape. When they leave, they carry a memory of this place with them.

For villages in inland areas, maintaining a dialogue with the outside world is essential. Not to change their identity or turn them into something artificial, but to help them become visible, to create new opportunities and to show that even a small village can become a meeting point between different cultures.

I do not want to romanticize the difficulties. Restoring a place, developing a project in a small village and making it known beyond the island requires time, resilience and a great deal of care.

But this is precisely why every step has such a deep meaning.

This old stable is no longer a forgotten place.
It is a house breathing again.
It is a door opening onto the village.
It is a bridge between roots and future.
It is a small example of what can happen when we choose to believe once again in the places from which we come.

From what once seemed destined to be abandoned, a new possibility can emerge.

A terrace open to the sky, the mountains, and the silence of Esterzili.

At Nuragic Temple, even the simplest moments become part of the experience: a slow breakfast under the Sardinian sun, an afternoon reading among the scents of herbs and terracotta, or a long dinner beneath the stars after a day spent exploring the sacred sites of the village.

This terrace was created as a place to pause, breathe, and reconnect with a slower rhythm of life. From here, the mountains remind us that beauty does not need to be loud. Sometimes, it is enough to sit quietly and let the landscape speak.

A small corner of Sardinia where tradition, simplicity, and hospitality meet.

A cup of coffee, a mural, and a village full of stories.

Nuragic Temple was born in Esterzili, but it does not exist separately from the village around it.

Every street, every old doorway, every mural and every small detail tells something about the memory of this place: a mountain village shaped by departures and returns, by ancient roots, family stories, and the desire to keep its soul alive.

This mural remembers the arrival of the train in Esterzili — a connection with the outside world, a symbol of movement, encounters, and new possibilities.

In the same way, Nuragic Temple wants to create new connections: bringing people from different countries to discover the heart of Sardinia, while honouring the identity of the village that welcomes them.

When you stay at Nuragic Temple, you are not simply staying in a house.
You are entering the story of a place.

A quiet corner of Nuragic Temple, where time seems to slow down.

A shaded terrace, the warmth of the Sardinian sun, fresh seasonal fruit served in terracotta bowls, and a moment to simply sit, breathe, and enjoy the gentle rhythm of village life.

Here in Esterzili, beauty is found in the simplest things: an unhurried breakfast, a conversation shared in the afternoon, the scent of the plants, and the silence of the mountains surrounding the village.

Nuragic Temple is more than a place to stay.
It is an invitation to reconnect with a slower and more authentic way of living.

Some doors do more than mark an entrance.
They hold a story, an intention, and a return to our roots.

This is the door of Nuragic Temple, in the heart of Esterzili.
A place born from the desire to transform a village house into a living space: a refuge for those seeking authenticity, silence, memory, and a deeper connection with the soul of Sardinia.
The earthy colours, the decorations inspired by ancient symbolism, and the vine growing above the entrance all tell the story of a deep bond with the land and with a simple beauty that does not need to be artificially created.

Crossing this threshold means slowing down.
Leaving the noise outside.
Entering a place where time still follows the rhythm of the village, the seasons, and the conversations shared outside the houses.

These small chairs tell a simple story, but one that is very precious to me.

They take me back to the summer evenings of my childhood, when my grandmother and the women from the neighbouring houses would gather outside to enjoy the cool air after the heat of the day. Sitting near their doorways, they would talk about life, the village, their families, the seasons, and the small events of everyday life.

As a curious child, I loved sitting among them and listening. Beneath the starry sky of Esterzili, their conversations became stories, memories, and oral tradition. Without even realising it, I was learning about my village through the voices of the women who lived there and preserved its soul.

Nuragic Temple was also born from the desire to protect this authentic spirit: not simply a house where people can stay, but a place that invites us to return to a slower rhythm of life, made of connection, listening, and simplicity.

Sometimes, a small chair outside a house is enough to bring an entire world back to life.
