Get • Not everything worth finding in Puglia is on the tourist map ✨
The best way to describe Masseria Salamina can be found on an inscription near the front door, dating back to 1933: “unchanging yet changing everything, never new and never ancient, industrious and quiet at the same time, gathering without taking, creating, nourishing and perfecting, seeking while lacking nothing.”
It has been standing since the 1600s, originally built as a fortress against pirate invasions! Today Filippo, his wife Laura, and sister Chiara have turned it into one of the most quietly beautiful places to stay in Puglia. Zero kilometre food grown on their own land, their own wine, cooking classes, wine tastings and spaces that are comfortable and thoughtfully done. You can feel the care that’s gone into keeping this place true to what it’s always been.
This is something I’m deeply passionate about. No set schedule, no rush, just me taking you to the corners of Puglia that don’t always make the tourist lists and showing you what life really looks like as a Canadian who made the leap and never looked back. There are so many facets of life here that I love sharing with you, and this is one of them 🫶🏼
If you’re planning a trip to Puglia, add this to your list 🇮🇹
As always, ciao for now! 👋
