In the first days of May 1955, Florence began the works to rebuild Ponte Santa Trinita, after its final destruction on the night of August 4, 1944 by German mines.
The choice was clear: rebuild it as it was and where it was. The same stone, quarried once again from the Boboli Gardens. The same curve of the arches, so unique that the geometric secret of Ammannati is still not fully understood today.
On March 16, 1958, the bridge reopened.
70 years later, it’s still there — the most beautiful bridge in the world, many say. And we are just a few steps away.
