Post 10 of 10 — Day Out by Car 🚗 — Cefalù & Castelbuono

The final of our Best Days Out in Sicily by Car series, we’re sharing another easy trip from Isola delle Femmine.

🇮🇹 Coast in the morning. Mountains in the afternoon.

Drive 45 minutes east along the motorway and arrive in Cefalù — one of Sicily's most beloved towns. Medieval streets, a magnificent Norman cathedral with golden Byzantine mosaics, a famous sandy beach and a giant golden rock looming above it all.

Then, after lunch, drive 30 minutes into the hills.

🏔️ Castelbuono:
A perfectly preserved medieval hilltop village in the heart of the Madonie Mountains — almost entirely unknown to tourists and absolutely wonderful. Ancient streets, a 14th century castle, panoramic mountain views and the most famous pastry shop in Sicily.

🇮🇹 Two of Sicily's most iconic sights. One unforgettable day.

Drive two hours south from Isola delle Femmine and you reach the Valley of the Temples — ancient Greek temples standing on a ridge above the Mediterranean, some dating back 2,500 years. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and genuinely one of the greatest archaeological sites on earth.

Then drive 20 minutes along the coast to Scala dei Turchi.

🤍 Scala dei Turchi:
A vast natural staircase of brilliant white chalk cliffs sweeping down to the sea. The turquoise water, the dazzling white rock, the golden light of late afternoon. Quite simply one of the most photogenic places in the whole of Italy.

→ Temple of Concordia — almost perfectly intact after 2,500 years
