Lipari from the water is even better in September, when the water is still warm and there aren’t so many boats around. Sailing along the coast you’ll find hidden bays, views stretching out to the other Aeolian Islands, and the Faraglioni, long linked to Homer’s Wandering Rocks and chosen by Nolan for The Odyssey.

There’s a trident hidden all over the Carasco.
It’s been our symbol from the very beginning, chosen by our founders, and once you spot the first one, you start seeing it everywhere. It comes from the ancient Lipari medallion, where the trident of Poseidon, protector of these islands, was a symbol of power and abundance. The same sea he watched over still surrounds us today.

Sailing the Odyssey🌊
Christopher Nolan chose Lipari among the key locations for The Odyssey, and it’s no coincidence.

Lipari’s Faraglioni and Pietra del Bagno, inspired Homer himself, became the Wandering Rocks, and these waters stood in for the island of Ae**us. The Aeolian Islands have carried the name of the keeper of the winds since antiquity, and in the original poem this is where Odysseus rested as his guest.
