Do you know what this is? 🇮🇹🌿

It may look like a giant garlic… but this is Aglione della Valdichiana, one of Tuscany’s most traditional ingredients.

Its bulbs can become surprisingly large, but its real secret is its flavour: much more delicate, sweet and gentle than ordinary garlic.

In Tuscany, it is the soul of one of our traditional dishes: Pici all’Aglione.

And today, during our Cooking Class at Villa Le Torri, our guests will discover that Italian cuisine is not only about learning a recipe.

It is about understanding the ingredients, where they come from, and the traditions they carry with them.

Because behind even the simplest ingredient, there can be centuries of Tuscany. ❤️

And after seeing the size of this Aglione… I think our guests will remember this lesson! 😄🇮🇹

Today, Tuscany is on our table. 🌿🇮🇹❤️

Fresh vegetables from our garden.
Fresh eggs.
Hands working together.
Recipes that belong to our tradition.

Today’s Cooking Class at Villa Le Torri is a little journey through the flavours we love:

Potato-filled ravioli with confit tomatoes,
Pici all’Aglione,
Tuscan beef stew with potatoes,
and a warm chocolate lava cake. 🤩

But the most beautiful ingredient is never written in the recipe.

It is the joy of being together.

Because we are not simply teaching our guests how to cook Italian food.

We are opening the door to our traditions, our family and a little piece of who we are. ❤️

From our garden, through our hands, to a table we share together.

This is our Tuscany. And we are so proud to share it with you. 🇮🇹

My dear Good Giant,

there was something I had never noticed.

Or perhaps…

something I wasn’t ready to notice.

One day, I looked at my parents’ hands.

Really looked at them.

My father’s hands.

My mother’s hands.

And suddenly I saw the years.

I remembered those same hands when I was a child.

Always working.

Lifting your stones.

Planting your garden.

Fixing what was broken.

And holding my little hand when I walked beside them.

Back then, I thought those hands were invincible.

Children believe their parents will stay young forever.

Then one day…

we discover that time has been passing for them too.

I looked at their hands.

Then I looked at you.

Your old stones were standing proudly again.

Your garden was full of flowers.

Your windows were open.

I could hear people laughing inside you.

And suddenly…

I understood.

They had given you their youth.

Year after year.

Stone after stone.

A little of their lives…

had become part of yours.

And maybe that is why you seem younger today than when we first found you.

Because you kept it all.

Their strength.

Their dreams.

Their love.

A little of their youth.

So please, my dear Good Giant…

keep it safe.

Keep their footsteps inside your walls.

Keep their laughter in your garden.

Keep something of those two young people who once looked at an old, wounded woman…

and decided she was worth saving.

Because today I finally understand:

they didn’t simply give you back your life.

They left a little of theirs inside you.

🤍

Some arrive for the first time. Others come back home. ❤️

This Sunday at Villa Le Torri, our hearts are especially full.

Welcome home to our dear Paul, Jennifer, McGregor and Val from Canada; Rebecca, Tony and Jeanette from the UK; and Coen and Monica from the Netherlands.

Seeing familiar faces walk through our gate again is one of the greatest gifts of this work.

Thank you for coming back. Thank you for trusting us once again. 🤍

And a very warm welcome to our new guests from Australia, the UK and Canada.

Today you arrive as guests, discovering Villa Le Torri for the first time.

Our hope is that during this week we can give you much more than a beautiful holiday in Tuscany.

A dinner together. A laugh. A conversation. A moment you didn’t expect.

Something that stays with you long after you leave.

We hope Villa Le Torri doesn’t just enter your memories…
we hope it reaches your heart. ❤️

Welcome to your “home” in Tuscany.

Every week begins with strangers… and somehow ends with a family. ❤️

On Saturday evening there is always a little shyness. New faces, different countries, different stories.

Then comes our homemade Welcome Buffet, a glass of w**e, the Cooking Class, dinner together… and slowly, something changes.

The barriers disappear.
The laughter gets louder.
And by the end of the week, we are all sitting together by the pool, sharing memories as one big extended family.

Every week you give us emotions that are impossible to describe.

And then there is Sofia.

She showed me a photograph of herself here at Villa Le Torri when she was just over 3 years old, in our pool with her family.

Today she is 29, and she has returned with her parents and her boyfriend.

26 years later. ❤️

Sometimes I wonder what we have really created here.

Perhaps not simply a place to spend a holiday in Tuscany…

but a place where memories grow up with you.

Thank you all for another unforgettable week. 🤍

Today, our Cooking Class begins again. 🌿🇮🇹

After a summer break, when the intense heat made us stop to protect the wellbeing of our guests, today we return with even more enthusiasm.

And where do we begin?

In our garden.

Fresh vegetables, a basket in our guests’ hands, and then into the kitchen together.

Because Italian cooking is not simply about recipes.

It is tradition, culture, family and knowledge passed from one generation to another.

For us, sharing these traditions with people who come to Villa Le Torri from around the world is something we are deeply proud of.

We don’t just teach how to cook Italian food.
We share where it comes from. ❤️

From our garden to our kitchen.
From our traditions to your memories.

“Before I learned how to love you… I watched them do it.”

My dear Good Giant,

there is something I understand today
that I could never have understood as a child.

Their hands.

My father’s hands.

My mother’s hands.

I watched those hands work on you for years.

I saw them tired.

Dirty with dust.

Marked by work.

Sometimes empty of money…

but never empty of courage.

As a child, I thought that was simply what parents did.

I didn’t understand.

I didn’t understand that every stone they saved
was taking a little of their strength.

That every problem solved
meant another worry they carried silently.

That while they were giving you back your youth…

they were giving you years of their own lives.

And yet…

I never heard them ask you for anything in return.

They simply believed in you.

When others might have seen an old house,

they saw the beautiful woman you could become again.

And they stayed.

Day after day.

Year after year.

Until your wounds became beauty.

Until your silence became laughter.

Until you stood proudly on this hill again.

Today, those hands are older.

They move a little differently.

And sometimes I look at them…

then I look at you.

Your stones.

Your windows.

Your garden.

Your flowers.

And suddenly I understand.

Their hands are everywhere.

Perhaps this is what it means to leave something behind.

Not having your name written on a wall.

But putting so much love into something…

that your presence remains there
even when your hands are resting.

And if today I know how to take care of you,

my dear Good Giant,

it is because long before you taught me…

I learned by watching them love you.

🤍

Next Sunday, I’ll tell you another page of our story.

Because some inherit a house.

I inherited the responsibility of loving her.

Some returns tell a story more powerful than a thousand words. ❤️

Yesterday we welcomed guests from Belgium, who first discovered Villa Le Torri back in 1999 and have never forgotten us. 🇧🇪❤️

We welcomed back our loyal friends from Germany 🇩🇪 and met new guests from Canada, who found us through the most precious recommendation of all: word of mouth from someone who has already stayed with us. 🇨🇦

And today, we are waiting for our dear friends from Ireland, who return every year to what has become their home in Tuscany. 🇮🇪❤️

Different countries. Different stories. One thing in common:

Villa Le Torri is not simply a place you come to.
It is a place you come back to. ❤️

Welcome home.

Our food begins long before it reaches the table. 🌿

It begins in our garden, in patient hands, in recipes passed down with love.

We don’t simply cook for our guests.

We share a little piece of who we are. ❤️

Some goodbyes tell us more than words ever could. ❤️

Thank you to all the wonderful guests who shared this week with us, and especially to our dear friends from Munich — George, Martina, Roland, Angela, Herman, Claudia, Carina, Niki, Olivia, Manfred, Gaby and Sigrun— for two unforgettable weeks together.

George, I will never forget what you told me: as your car got closer to Villa Le Torri, you could feel the excitement growing… until you had goosebumps all over your body.

And Richard from the UK… the strong, adventurous man I came to know, surprised me at goodbye with unexpected tears. ❤️

One with goosebumps arriving.
One with tears leaving.

Perhaps this is the greatest gift our guests can give us.

Because when a place makes you emotional both arriving and leaving… it has become more than a holiday.

Thank you all. Until we meet again. 🤍
