La Canonica di Menzano

The La Canonica di Menzano rectory is a beautiful and secluded property, with architectural features of special interest and historical importance.

It is set amid olive groves and vineyards on the slopes of the Pratomagno mountain range, south of Florence, and from the terrace with antique wood oven there are spectacular views across the valleys. The central part of the building and the adjacent church of San Donato date back to the 13th century, when the site was a stop-over on the trade route between the Valdarno valley in the west and the Casentino in the east. Later additions from the 18th century formed the rectory building which stands today. The property has been carefully restored in its original style.
