The Sanctuary. Our location is also convenient to the Parco Nazionale dell'Appennino Tosco-Emiliano.

Our home away from home is a hillside destination situated on 2 acres in pristine orchards and vineyards near medieval towns, hilltop castles, the Via Francigena, the slot canyon Stretti di Giaredo, and the world renowned Cinque Terre. Along the ancient pilgrimage route known as the Via Francigena, from Canterbury to Rome there is a small valley with an ancient church next to an old stone house th

at once provided shelter, food, and drink to weary travelers. Today this 4 bed/4 bath stone cottage in Northern Tuscany is perfectly situated to accommodate adventurous travelers and seekers of unique experiences. It is a 3 mile (4.7 km) drive or 2.5 mile (4 km) walk from the Medieval town, Pontremoli, which hosts the largest Medieval Festival- Medievalis- every August. We welcome you to pick and enjoy fresh fruit from our trees, enjoy a glass of wine on our beautiful terrazza by a wood fire, or take in the stunning mountain vistas at sunset. We are accessible by foot, bicycle, car, taxi, and train, and closest to the Milan and Pisa airports. We can also arrange for your pick-up from the train station in Pontremoli, and we have 2 bicycles available for your use. This old house tells a story- parts have been revealed, parts have been kept secret. We look forward to meeting you and hope you enjoy your stay at The Sanctuary.
