Our Story
Nestled in the hills of the Umbrian countryside lies a little slice of paradise. Virtually untouched by time, a tiny medieval hamlet in Icciano, Spoleto maintains all the character and beautiful simplicity that many have come to expect from an Italian village.
This is where you find La Locanda del Tempo.
Atop the winding country roads, our fourteenth century Italian casale hosts artists and art lovers who would like to explore traditional painting and drawing while immersed in nature and silence. (Non-painters, of course, are also warmly welcomed!) The fully-equipped Classical Painting Studio, Guest Rooms finished in simple style, and proposed excursion itineraries to the most beautiful locations in the region create a relaxed and authentic atmosphere in which creativity can blossom. Every morning starts with a healthy homemade breakfast buffet, then guests are offered unstructured use of the studio & art materials, swimming pool, rose garden, and 7 hectares of private land. The historic center of Spoleto, an UNESCO World Heritage Site, is just 15 minutes driving by car.
You may book your stay as part of a scheduled course in traditional oil painting, reserve a room between classes in order to use the studio and art supplies at your leisure, or both. Some artists choose to stay an extra week before or after a course to experience all that Italy has to offer.
