Today, Venice celebrates one of its most cherished traditions: the Historical Regatta. We mark the occasion with a painting by Francesco Guardi, "La regata sul Canal Grande vicino al Ponte di Rialto" (Lisbona, Museo Calouste Gulbenkian), which, until a few weeks ago, was on exhibition at Ca’ Rezzonico. This painting shows how this festival, taking place on the water and in the streets, stirred people’s emotions centuries ago, just as it continues to do today. In Venice, there are traditions that never cease to amaze. And the Historical Regatta is one of them.

Today, at the Lido di Venezia, the 83rd Venice International Film Festival kicks off.
Each edition features a new poster, which is why we want to celebrate it with a selection of images that, over the years, have become much more than just a simple one: true works of graphic art, capable of capturing the spirit of the Festival and becoming part of its history. Because in Venice, art is truly everywhere—even on a poster. Which one is your favorite?

In the first image, you can see the poster for the 1983 Venice International Film Festival, designed by Manuele Fior, which depicts a cinema crossing the Venice lagoon beneath a starry sky, in an elegant, ethereal image.
