Se ogni casa ha un cuore, quello di Ca' Dadda è senz'altro il terrazzo sul Canal Grande.
Un affaccio da cui poter osservare le antiche bellezze della principale via d'acqua della città: dal Ponte di Rialto a Ca' Vendramin Calergi, sede del Casinò, passando per il Palazzo delle Prigioni, la Pescaria, la Ca' d'Oro. Ma anche una finestra sempre aperta sulla vita quotidiana di Venezia e sulle sue tradizioni, legate a doppio filo all'acqua da cui essa sorge.
La più iconica di queste è senza dubbio la Regata Storica: un appuntamento fisso per la mia famiglia che, assieme a tutta la città, si ritrovava sul terrazzo ogni prima domenica di settembre per godere dello spettacolo offerto da gondole, sandoli e mascarete (barche tradizionali in legno) ma soprattutto per stare insieme nella vecchia casa dei nonni.
Un luogo unico e ricco di magia che, d'ora in avanti avrà un sacco di altre storie da raccontare.

If every house has a heart, Ca' Dadda's is undoubtedly its terrace overlooking the Grand Canal.
A view from which to observe the ancient beauties of the city's main waterway: from the Rialto Bridge to Ca' Vendramin Calergi, home to the Casino, passing by the Palazzo delle Prigioni, the Pescaria, and the Ca' d'Oro. But also a window that is always open onto the daily life of Venice and its traditions, closely linked to the water from which it rises.
The most iconic of these is undoubtedly the Regata Storica: a regular event for my family who, together with the whole city, would gather on the terrace every first Sunday in September to enjoy the spectacle offered by gondolas, sandoli, and mascarete (traditional wooden boats) but above all to be together in my grandparents' old house.
A unique and magical place that, from now on, will have many more stories to tell.

Nel recente restauro di Ca' Dadda, abbiamo voluto preservare lo spirito originale della casa, e delle persone che vi hanno vissuto, adattandola però agli standard di comfort più moderni.

Un esempio perfetto di questo è la “Camera Grigia” al primo piano: la luce del Canal Grande, filtrata e distorta dai “vetri a rulli” delle finestre che si affacciano su Rialto, proietta ombre e sfumature iridescenti sulle pareti grigio chiaro, ricreando gli stessi effetti ottici di quello che era il salotto privato della famiglia Dadda.

La tecnica dei “vetri a rulli” è una tecnica di lavorazione del vetro semi-artigianale risalente al XIX secolo, di cui è sempre più raro trovare esempi ben conservati.

La foto numero tre mostra come appariva la stanza prima dei lavori di restauro.

In the recent restoration of Ca' Dadda, we wanted to preserve the original spirit of the house and the people who lived there, while adapting it to modern standards of comfort.

A perfect example of this is the “Gray Room” on the first floor: the light from the Grand Canal, filtered and distorted by the “vetri a rulli” of the windows overlooking Rialto, cast*s shadows and iridescent shades on the light gray walls, recreating the same optical effects that have always been present in the Dadda family's private sitting room.

The “vetri a rulli” technique is a semi-artisan glassworking technique daiting back to the 19th century, of which it is increasingly rare to find well-preserved examples.
