It is with unbearable sadness that we share the untimely passing of our friend, colleague and beloved yoga teacher, Fanette Johnson.
Fanette had been an integral part of the Negril community for more than 30 years. She taught yoga in Paris and New York prior to teaching in Negril at Tensing Pen and RockHouse. Her teaching style, a mix of Iyengar and Hatha yoga, were filled with attentive care to each student. All our guests enjoyed her customized classes, focused on body alignment, breathwork and improving flexibility.
Over the years, Fanette has touched the lives of so many. Long after returning home, all remember her lessons: “unclasp and reclasp your hands, put the other thumb on top, we do things too automatically”, or “take a deep breath, we breathe an automatic and shallow breath …”
The loss of Fanette is a heavy loss for our Negril community and our Tensing Pen family. We mourn Fanette’s death, and pray for the repose of her soul. ✨
