Two Sundays ago, we celebrated Mom’s 96th birthday. That morning at Mass, Father Ernest gave her a beautiful birthday blessing and graciously walked her back to our pew. These photos were taken on our return home.
Her actual birthday was on Wednesday.
Late that night, in the early hours of Thursday morning, she fell and broke her hip. It has been a long, tough couple of weeks.
Yesterday morning, our mom, Gloria, took her final breath and slipped peacefully into God’s ready arms.
“In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?” (John 14:2)
We know Mom is busy re-arranging the beautiful room He has prepared just for her. She is where she belongs now, being cherished by Him and again surrounded by love.
We are so very thankful to our small circle of nearest and dearest who held us up through prayers, messages, and quiet support over these past weeks. You gave us the strength to keep going.
Small in frame but fiery in spirit and unbelievably stubborn, Mom loved deeply and gave generously.
While there is an emptiness, a hollowness in our hearts, we are also filled with a quiet peace knowing that she is now bossing everyone around in her new forever home.
We will hold a celebration of Mom’s life on Saturday, May 16th at Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Main Street in Ocho Rios at 2pm.
Thank you for all the messages and phone calls that have been pouring in. Please continue to keep us in your prayers.
Bless,
Elise and Darryl
