Join us for a special evening of Toubaraama, a traditional song deeply rooted in Yaeyama culture.

Performed to a fixed melody with changing lyrics about love, life, happiness, and sorrow, Toubaraama has long been cherished across the islands. The annual Toubaraama Contest, held on the 13th night of the eighth lunar month, is one of Ishigaki’s signature autumn events.

On September 24, Art Hotel Ishigakijima will welcome past champions and other singers for the annual “Moon Viewing Toubaraama” gathering.

This is the one night each year when former champions come together to perform in the same venue.

「旧盆の夕べ」アンガマとエイサーを間近で。

アートホテル石垣島では、8月25日（火）に「旧盆の夕べ」を開催。
八重山ならではの「アンガマ」や、迫力ある「エイサー」の演舞を間近でご覧いただけます。

・沖縄の伝統芸能「エイサー」
エイサー団体「和琉風（とりかじ）」による迫力ある太鼓とダイナミックな演舞で、熱気あふれるステージをお届けします。

・八重山独特の伝統行事「アンガマ」
大川青年会演じる、あの世からやってきたおじい（ウシュマイ）とおばあ（ンミー）が子孫（ファーマー）を引き連れて来館。
ユーモアたっぷりの珍問答や唄踊りなど、あたたかな風習をお楽しみいただけます。

最後はみんなで「カチャーシー」を踊って、盛り上がりましょう！

See Angama and Eisa up close at our “Obon Evening” on August 25.

Art Hotel Ishigakijima will host a special evening of traditional performances unique to Okinawa and the Yaeyama Islands.

First, enjoy Eisa, one of Okinawa’s best-known traditional performing arts. Eisa group Torikaji will fill the stage with powerful drums and energetic choreography.

Then experience Angama, a tradition unique to the Yaeyama Islands. Performed by the Okawa Youth Association, Ushumai and Nmee arrive from the afterlife with their descendants, entertaining the audience with humorous dialogue, songs, and dance.

The evening ends with Kachashi, so come ready to join the celebration.

上空から見るとハートの形をした「黒島」

石垣港離島ターミナルから船で約25~30分で辿り着ける黒島は、人口よりも牛の数が多いことから"牛の島"として親しまれています。

信号もほとんどなく、聞こえてくるのは風の音や鳥のさえずり。
自転車で島をゆっくり巡りながら、いつもより少しゆっくり流れる時間を楽しめるのが黒島の魅力です。

海へまっすぐ伸びる「伊古桟橋」は、島を代表するフォトスポット。
青い海と空が織りなす景色は、思わず足を止めたくなる美しさです。

8月18日は、石垣市の「パパイヤの日」

全国的には8月8日が「パパイヤの日」として知られていますが、石垣市では語呂合わせにちなんで、8月18日を独自に「パパイヤの日」と定めています。

島を歩いていると、庭先や野原などで見かけることもあるパパイヤの木。

沖縄では、熟す前の実を「青パパイヤ」と呼び、フルーツではなく島野菜として食べる文化があります。細切りにして炒めたり、サラダにしたりと、さまざまな料理で親しまれています。

While August 8 is widely recognized as Papaya Day in Japan, Ishigaki City has its own Papaya Day on August 18, inspired by a local play on words.

Walk around the island, and you may spot papaya trees growing in gardens and open fields.

In Okinawa, unripe papaya is known as green papaya and is enjoyed as a vegetable rather than a fruit. It is commonly shredded and stir-fried or served in salads, making it a familiar part of local cuisine.

Design your own Chanmery bottle and take home a colorful summer memory.

From August 29 to 31, the "Chanmery" Art Bottle Workshop gives children the chance to turn a clear bottle into a completely original creation.

Add words, drawings, travel memories, and favorite motifs to create a design that is entirely your own. The finished bottle makes a great summer souvenir and is also a fun option for a summer vacation research project.

Elementary school-aged guests and younger can participate free of charge. Children of non-staying guests are also welcome to participate if their parent or guardian is a GoTo Pass member.
