Secluded Africa owns and manages exclusive and barefoot luxury lodges in Kenya. These include Delta Dunes (Tana Delta), Kipalo Hills (Tsavo West), Sunbird Lodge (Lake Elementaita), Instinct of the Mara (Maasai Mara) and Cardamom House (Kiruwitu Beach Vipingo) - set to open for Easter 2021. Our core pillars are focused on Wildlife and Nature Conservation, Culture and Communities, run entirely by locals. Conservation - All our properties are located within private conservancies which means exclusive experiences all the way. We deeply encourage our guests to engage in our conservation work, anti-poaching and community efforts so that they understand the difference between a conservancy and national park, what conservation means, where their conservation fees go, the reality on the ground and hopefully leave as family and true advocates of wildlife and nature conservation. Culture - Cultural education and exposure is important to us. Kenya is a colourful country with 43 tribes, yet only a few are well known. Thanks to the location of our lodges, our guests are able to engage with at least 4 tribes – Pokomo, Orma, Taita and Masai tribes. Community - Communities are part of every conservancy and lodge. They are shareholders, managers, waiters, rangers and part of every cog in the wheel that it takes to run a lodge and conservancy. Our staff have been trained and their children are being put through school as part of being a Secluded Africa team and family member. We can guarantee that you will come in as a guest but leave as a friend after experiencing the magic of Secluded Africa – 5 star experiences at the price of a 3 star.

The waterhole is there… but our swimming pool seems to have a certain something. 😅

At Kipalo Hills, these baboons have made stopping by for a drink part of their daily routine.

It’s a hot day, after all…and, as Mario Enzesberger points out, apparently this water tastes different. 😂

Now the important question…are they paying by card, M-PESA or cash?🤔

Gill Enzesberger shares a little of what makes our Cardamom House what it is: a tucked-away spot in a small cove, surrounded by trees, with a kitchen that has become a big part of the experience.

With Chef Zuzu cooking, lunch and dinner are a surprise, shaped around what our guests can eat and enjoy.

On a game drive with us, you’ll have a driver-guide and a Maasai spotter sharing what they notice and helping you follow the day as it unfolds.

Your open-roof 4x4, guide and spotter are yours throughout your stay, so you can explore at your own pace and stay a little longer when a sighting has you hooked.
