Sabay came to us from a beautiful Khmer phrase “Sok Sabay”, which means “How are you?” in khmer language.
But it’s more than just a greeting…

Sok = health
Sabay = happiness

So when Khmer people ask you “Sok Sabay?”, they’re really asking:
