Niyagama House Niyagama House - your retreat in the tea plantation Kind regards,

Elke & Chaminda de Silva

Niyagama House is a retreat with seven guest rooms in the middle of our tea plantation in southern Sri Lanka. The plantation is only six miles inland from the coastal city of Galle, the World Heritage Site Galle Fort and the beaches at the Indian Ocean. In Niyagama House you can spend a wonderful holiday with yoga, ayurvedic massage, swimming in the large, chlorine-free pool, observing tropical birds or chilling-out in a hammock.

A little look inside.

With 8 rooms and 3 suites, Niyagama House can welcome up to 25 guests, while still keeping things small and personal.

Each room has its own character, with thoughtful details, plenty of space and views of the pool, our tea plantation or the surrounding tropical jungle.

Daily housekeeping and turndown service make your stay effortless, with laundry and ironing service available whenever needed.

A place to come back to after a day of exploring or to rest and recharge.

Which detail makes a hotel room feel like home to you?

What if your next trip was about more than just a place to stay?

Imagine...
.. waking up to the sounds of nature. .. moving your body with morning yoga. .. cooling off in the pool beneath the palms... tasting and exploring fresh Sri Lankan flavours... finding those quiet moments where there is simply nowhere else you need to be.

Welcome to Niyagama House

Created and founded by a German and Sri Lankan dream team, this family-run boutique hotel and yoga retreat opened its doors in 2012.

Nestled in the middle of our tea plantation, just 20 minutes inland from Galle, we welcome every guest from the age of 12 onwards in our non-smoking hideaway.

Come for some peaceful days, filled with relaxation, yoga and Ayurvedic massages. Our new, spacious yoga shala and the eleven rooms can accommodate up to 25 people.

Could you see yourself here?

Save this for your Sri Lanka trip, share it with the person you’d bring along or send us a message to start planning your stay.

Namaste,
the Niyagama House family

OUR AWARD-WINNING PROPERTY

Yesterday, I received the perfect email from Tripadvisor:

“You’re among the top 10% of hotels worldwide

Each year, we recognize travelers’ favorite businesses around the world, based on reviews and ratings collected throughout the past year. You scored a spot at the top thanks to their reviews – congrats on your win.”
😍
Here comes a big THANK YOU to all our guests from last year and to Tripadvisor for being a wonderful platform for sharing reviews.
😘

Namaste full of gratitude from the tea plantation and have a great day,
Elke

Dear Friends of Niyagama House,

while we have sunny days again and our little stream in the village is flowing towards the ocean very smoothly, the rest of the country is suffering.
🙁
It seems that only the area around Galle has not been hit by what the United Nations are calling “the worst flooding in decades”:

“Sri Lanka is facing one of its worst flood disasters in two decades, with nearly one million people affected and more than 400 reported dead or missing after Cyclone Ditwah unleashed catastrophic flooding and landslides across the island.”

For all who have booked a stay with us:

Our place is safe, the storm is over, the sun is shining most of the day and the highway is free to bring you directly to Niyagama House.
Maybe the best thing you can do to support Sri Lanka is NOT to cancel your stay.
🙏

For all who like to help:

We are in contact with the government hospital in Karapitiya, close to Galle and will start today with delivering big amount of water bottles to the disaster-help-unit of this hospital.

If you like to help us to help all Sri Lankans who are suffering right now, please do send me a PM (private message) and I will let you know how you can join.
👍

May we all be happy, healthy and free from suffering.
💛

Namaste from the tea plantation and have a wonderful day,

Elke
🙏

Elke
🙏
