With a passion and concern for the environment, the design and concept of Yakaduru Safari Camp, has been carefully planned and constructed not to upset the fragile eco systems of the area, this is reflected in the design and construction of all our cabanas and infrastructure. Our eco-friendly concept and design ensured that the majority of materials used in the construction is all eco-friendly. Being located near a national park, we thought it important to construct all buildings eco-friendly. The cabanas at Yakaduru have been constructed from wattle and daub and using coconut fronds for the roof. Yala National Park is the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka. The park is best known for its variety of wild animals. It is important for the conservation of Sri Lankan elephants, Sri Lankan leopards and aquatic birds. Yala hosts a variety of ecosystems ranging from moist monsoon forests to freshwater and marine wetlands. It is one of the 70Important Bird Areas (IBAs) in Sri Lanka. Yala harbours 215 bird species including six endemic species of Sri Lanka. The number of mammals that has been recorded from the park is 44, and it has one of the highest leopard densities in the world.
