The ESBA Maxibasket Championship is for players who may have accumulated years of experience, but have not lost their appetite for competition.

It is for veteran teams who still train, travel and enjoy testing themselves against new opponents. For players who understand that basketball changes with experience, but never loses the ability to challenge, connect and bring people together.

Whether your team already competes internationally or is considering its first ESBA experience, the ESBA Maxibasket Championship 2027 offers an opportunity to share the court with players who understand exactly why you still play.

Looking back at the ESBA MaxiBasket Championship Algarve/Albufeira 2026, the photographs tell much more than the results.
They capture the concentration before a game, the intensity of competition, teammates celebrating together and the conversations that continued long after the final whistle.
They also remind us why teams travel for championships like ESBA. Basketball may be the reason everyone arrives, but the complete experience is what travels home with them.
Here are a few moments from a week we will remember for a long time, as we begin looking forward to what 2027 will bring.

The ESBA Maxibasket Championship 2027 is an international basketball event created for veteran players who want to continue competing, travelling and sharing the game with teams from different countries.
It brings together experienced players who may have very different basketball backgrounds but still share the same competitive instinct and enthusiasm for stepping onto the court.
The championship is about serious basketball, but also about everything that surrounds it: travelling as a team, meeting other players, reconnecting with familiar faces and enjoying several days together in Albufeira.
If veteran basketball is still an important part of your life, this is a championship worth discovering.

One minute, players are laughing with opponents before the game. A few minutes later, both teams are battling for every rebound and defending every possession as if nothing else matters.
That switch is familiar to anyone who has played competitive sport for long enough.
Veteran basketball may have a strong social side, but once the game starts, players still want to compete properly. That contrast is part of what gave ESBA MaxiBasket Championship Algarve/Albufeira its character.
Serious basketball on court, genuine friendships beyond it.

22/09/2026

Facing an experienced team presents a different kind of challenge.
They may not surprise you with something completely new, but they rarely give you much for free. They understand positioning, manage difficult moments well and usually know how to make an opponent work for every possession.
That is why international veteran basketball remains competitive. Different teams bring years of experience to the same court, and then find out whose decisions work best on the day.

Last June in Albufeira, the ESBA community came together once again for a week of veteran basketball, international competition, reunions, new connections and the kind of moments that happen both on the court and far beyond it.

There were intense games, familiar faces, long conversations, shared evenings and plenty of reminders of why this championship means so much to the people who keep returning to the game year after year.

Looking back at these images brings the whole week back to life.

And while we are still enjoying the memories of 2026, there is already more to look forward to.
Stay close. The next chapter is coming soon. 🏀

There comes a point in every basketball career when the reasons for playing begin to change.
The love of competition is still there, of course, but so are the friendships, the routines, the opportunity to travel with teammates and the simple satisfaction of still being able to step onto the court and play the game properly.
That combination was visible throughout the ESBA Maxibasket Championship 2026. Players arrived in Albufeira with years of basketball behind them, but with plenty of competitive instinct still very much present.
That is one of the things that makes veteran basketball so enjoyable to watch, and even better to be part of.
