Unreal moment for me today! I’ve tracked this Award Winning Asteria Yacht Explorer for 3 years as they cruised from Greenland to Antarctica, always wishing they'd come to Madagascar. Today, they moored right off Sakatia Beachfront Villas/Fishing Charters Ended up chatting with the owners, who are loving their stay. Turns out they have 4 South African crew members on board (proud compatriot moment!). They told me I’m their official paparazzi. 😂😂

Harriet and her wonderful team at Madagascat made the whole reservation and planning process so smooth and effortless. The crew of MakiCat, skipper Toni with his gentle authority, Angelot on the deck (and everywhere else) and chef Dani who is a magician in his kitchen, are just the best and did more than expected to make this an unforgettable week of fun and memories. Rozanne, owner of MakiCat, also kept contact should we need anything, but everything was so perfect. You do not often get more than what the itinerary and pictures suggest, but this is exactly what happened during our magical week around Nosy Be. Going back is a must. Six more sleeps!

Our Island Home

On 7 July, my grandsons, William & James, and I begin our Madagascar adventure.

For an entire week we'll be calling the beautiful island of Nosy Sakatia home, staying at the wonderful Sakatia Beachfront Villas.

Imagine waking up every morning to the sound of the Indian Ocean...

Stepping straight onto a tropical beach...

Watching local fishermen drift past...

And ending each day with spectacular sunsets.

It feels like exactly the right place for two young explorers to begin discovering Madagascar.

And it's only the beginning.
