Long before modern building materials reached the atolls, the Maldives was built from hirigaa. Islanders shaped coral stone by hand, let the sun harden it, and bound it with lime to raise their homes, walls and mosques, some still standing after centuries.

Today, coral is protected, and so is its story. At Diamonds Athuruga, we’ve given this history a second life: the hirigaa in our walls was collected from old buildings and recycled, preserving the craft of our ancestors without taking anything new from the sea.

Our reefs are more than beautiful. They are the living walls that shelter our islands from the ocean, and protecting them means protecting the Maldives itself. 🌊🐠🏝️
