This World Environment Day, Ellaidhoo Maldives by Cinnamon partnered with the Mathiveri Council and local school children to support a cleaner, more sustainable future for the island community.

As part of the initiative, the resort donated cutlery and crockery to local stakeholders and conducted an educational session on microplastic pollution led by our in-house Marine Biologist. The session highlighted the impact of plastic waste on marine ecosystems, wildlife, and human health.

The day also featured a single-use plastic collection drive, bringing together council members, students, and resort representatives in a shared effort to protect the island's natural environment.

Together, we continue to take meaningful steps towards reducing plastic waste, promoting environmental awareness, and preserving the beauty of our oceans for future generations.

In celebration of World Biological Diversity Day 2026, we hosted an inspiring evening dedicated to the wonders of marine life and the importance of ocean conservation. Guided by our in house Marine Biologist, guests explored the vibrant biodiversity surrounding our renowned house reef through engaging discussions and shared underwater experiences.

From encounters with turtles and reef sharks to colourful coral gardens beneath the surface, the evening highlighted the beauty of the Maldives’ marine ecosystems while reinforcing the importance of sustainable tourism and protecting these fragile waters for generations to come.
