🌊 WAIT… MANTA RAYS RIGHT OFF OUR BEACH?! 😱💙

Less than 100 metres from the beach of Keyodhoo, these beautiful manta rays appeared at our house reef!

No boat trip. No special excursion. No big production.

Adam simply grabbed an action camera and captured these incredible moments underwater. 📸

🦈😳 DOES HE KNOW WHAT HE’S DOING?!

An unusual scene at Keyodhoo Harbour!

After preparing an 81 lb Yellowfin Tuna, our team member Moky offers some of the remaining fish scraps to a group of Nurse Sharks.

And these hungry visitors don’t keep their distance! 🐟🌊

Just about ONE METRE separates Moky from the sharks!

Nurse Sharks are generally considered relatively docile, but feeding wild sharks at such close range is not without risk.

Four 300 HP outboards, a mirror-flat Indian Ocean and the first light of a new day.

Just an early morning the Dream Travels speedboat heading towards the airport.

Some mornings in the Maldives are simply unreal. 💙

HE'S EATING MY CAMERA! 😳
This is not an aquarium.
This is Keyodhoo Beach.

Step into the shallow water and you can find yourself surrounded by nurse sharks and rays. They are regular visitors here — and sometimes curiosity brings them incredibly close.

This ray came straight towards my camera, investigated it for a moment… and actually bumped into it. 😄

The most incredible part is how normal this sight has become on our little island. Nurse sharks and rays can often be seen cruising through these shallow waters just metres from the beach.

They are still wild animals, and that’s exactly how they should be treated — enjoy the encounter, give them space and let them decide how close they want to come. ❤️🌊

WOULD YOU LET YOUR 3-YEAR-OLD STAND HERE?! 😳🦈

To most visitors, this scene probably looks unreal.

A grandfather kneels on the beach cleaning a freshly caught Red Snapper, ready to go straight to the kitchen.

Just a few metres away, his little grandson stands in the shallow water, watching the rays and nurse sharks gathering nearby.

Nobody is running. Nobody is shouting.
For them, it’s simply another moment of everyday life on Keyodhoo. ❤️

Fishing has been part of life on this little island for generations — and the ocean is never far away.

Grandfather. Grandson. Today’s catch. And some very interested neighbours. 😄🦈

WHAT A FEW DAYS ON THE FLATS! 🔥🎣
Our Italian fly fishermen had some great fishing around Vaavu Atoll — and the variety was just as good as the action.
GTs, Bluefin Trevally, Yellowspotted Trevally, Emperor and several Triggerfish all found their way to the fly. 🎣
Different fish, different challenges and plenty of opportunities over several successful days on the flats.
Sight fishing in clear, shallow water is what makes this style of fishing so special:
spot the fish, make the cast… and hope everything comes together. 👀

First, it takes the hermit crab for a ride… 🐚
Then it steals the cookie. 🍪
And finally, it comes back for the orange juice. 🍊😄

Life this close to the ocean has its own rules.

At least the coffee survived. ☕😂

DINNER FOR TWO… OR IS IT? 👀🦈

A very special honeymoon evening for our guests from Japan. 🇯🇵❤️🇲🇻

A table set right at the water’s edge in Keyodhoo, dinner and drinks ready, the Indian Ocean only a step away.

But they weren’t exactly dining alone. 😄

Nurse sharks and rays were cruising through the shallow water directly in front of their table, while a Grey Heron casually walked past just a couple of metres away, apparently hoping there might be something for him too.

No aquarium. No resort show.

Just an extraordinary evening on a tiny Maldivian island.

Fishing adventures during the day. A private beach dinner in the evening. And some rather unusual dinner companions. 🦈❤️

These are the moments we want our guests to remember long after they leave Keyodhoo.

ROUGHER WEATHER? CHOOSE THE RIGHT BOAT. 🌊🎣

Our guest from Japan came to Keyodhoo with one thing high on his list: popping.
The last few days have brought more wind, clouds and a rougher Indian Ocean than usual.
So for his fishing trips, we made the decision to take Jupiter 8.
At 38 ft, Jupiter 8 is one of the big boats in our fleet and an extremely capable platform when conditions get rough. More space, stability and comfort mean our guests can continue fishing effectively even when the ocean isn't perfectly calm.
And over two trips, the decision paid off. 🔥
Giant Trevally, Grouper, Snapper and Dogtooth Tuna — plenty of action and a great variety of fish for our Japanese guest. 🇯🇵🎣
Perfect weather is nice.
But having the right boat for the conditions can be even more important.
