"Abandoned houses" 😔

That hits different when you see them in the Maldives.

In a lot of islands you’ll find these once-bright houses — white walls now weathered, bougainvillea growing wild over the gates, windows boarded up, coconut palms dropping leaves on empty courtyards. The gardens still bloom sometimes, like no one told the flowers the family left.

Mostly it’s because people move to Malé or Hulhumalé for work, school, healthcare… and the old home just gets left behind. On some islands you can walk down a street and every other house is locked up.

Whoa, The colors are unreal

That tiger shark _Femunu Miyaru_ coming straight at the camera with that almost smiling look. You can see every scar on its nose, the broad head, the little pilot fish around. And below, the reef still healthy.

This one is my favorite so far — so serene.

That milky aqua water is so clear you can see the sand pattern underneath, and then the mangroves on the edges are so dense and green. Those little baby mangrove shoots popping up out of the water in the middle are so cute.
