Our architecture is organic rather than imposed.

We use indigenous wood, natural stone and traditional thatch to ensure our structures feel as if they have always been part of the island.

Baros Maldives is delighted to welcome Christian Szabo as its new General Manager.

He brings more than three decades of international hospitality to an iconic natural island that has been looking after guests since 1973.

Christian joins from sister property Niva Dhigali, where he most recently served as General Manager. His career spans luxury hospitality across Europe, Russia and the Indian Ocean.

Christian takes up his new role at Baros at an exciting time. Baros helped pioneer Maldivian tourism when it opened in 1973 and has spent more than five decades refining a style of hospitality that is personal, understated and rooted in its natural surroundings.

“There aren’t many places in the Maldives with a history like Baros, and it shows in small ways – in the warmth of the team, the incredible house reef, the guests who come back year after year,” says Christian.

“I’m here to look after all of that, bringing fresh energy and new ideas, while always ensuring Baros stays true to its heritage.”
