There’s another side to Isla Mujeres. 🌴🌈

Beyond the colorful streets, beach clubs, and beautiful Playa Norte, there’s a quieter side of the island.

Where the Caribbean meets the rocky coastline, mornings begin with spectacular sunrises, and life moves at a different pace.

This is Punta Sur, the part of Isla Mujeres we’re lucky enough to call home at Casa Saasil.

And every once in a while, nature puts on a little extra show. A beautiful rainbow stretching across the Caribbean, reminding us just how magical this little island can be.

Isla Mujeres has a rich history connected to Ixchel, the ancient Maya goddess associated with the moon, fertility, and healing. Her presence is part of the island’s history and spirit, especially here at Punta Sur.

I’d like to think a rainbow over Casa Saasil is a little hello from Ixchel herself. 🌈

Did you know there’s an entire art museum beneath the waters of Isla Mujeres?

Just offshore lies MUSA, the Underwater Museum of Art, where hundreds of sculptures rest on the ocean floor, slowly becoming part of the marine environment.

Created to bring together art and conservation, these sculptures offer surfaces for coral and other marine life to grow, transforming an underwater gallery into an evolving habitat.

One of the most fascinating sections is Manchones, near Isla Mujeres, where visitors can explore the sculptures through guided snorkeling or scuba diving.

And here’s something many visitors don’t realize: you don’t necessarily need to be a certified diver to experience MUSA. There are snorkeling excursions and introductory diving options, depending on your comfort level and the conditions.
