Pete’s Camp, a family owned and operated beach campground resort, invites you to visit El Paraiso–Paradise–the front door to the Sea of Cortez, located in San Felipe in Baja California. Pete’s offers sun, sand and sea, extraordinary beaches, and an excellent environment, all connected by the magic of the semi-arid desert landscape and the blue green ocean. We have 79 spaces right on the beach for camping. There are also restrooms and showers available. Not to mention Norma's famous restaurant and cantina looking with 180 degree views of the Baja coastline. Historical facts about Pete's Camp Beginning:
In early 1955, Uncle Pete and Rafael Navarro II (There are 4 now!) discovered the land that would eventually become Pete's Camp while searching for a prime fishing spot. After experiencing a weekend of excellent fishing, they applied to purchase the national land. In April of 1955, Uncle Pete, Aunt Angie, Rafael, their dogs Loco and Garme, and cat Diable, moved to the land and founded the north beach's 1st ever campground! Pete's Camp was founded and started as small trailer park and fishing spot where they sold local eats (Tacos duh!) and libations (B**r + soda). In 1956, Uncle Pete and Rafael, built the very first palapa, and 9 more thereafter, located where the cantina is today. Pete's camp was ripe for clams, shrimp, and giant sea bass! In 1957, camping on the beach was in high demand, so a road was cut from the highway all the way down to the beach and more palapas were built. In 1959, Uncle Pete and Rafael broke ground on the kitchen and eventually built out the restaurant. Overtime, Pete's Camp has grown immensely, but one thing has remained--the familial spirit of the original establishment in 1955. Pete's Camp has continued to remain in the Navarro family and we pride ourselves in offering our guests a home away from home complete with fabulous food, drinks, fun, and memories that will last for a lifetime.
