One of the things that touched me when I first moved to Mexico was seeing how close families were across generations.
Grandparents helping with the grandchildren. Grown children caring for their parents. Cousins who seemed more like brothers and sisters.
I started to understand that staying close to family wasn't just about convenience. It was simply part of life!
Over the years, especially in smaller towns and rural communities, I also noticed how family homes seemed to grow along with the family. A son or daughter would get married, and another room might be added. Later, maybe a small house on the same property, or another floor.
The family grew, and somehow the home made room for them.
Of course, life is different now. Children grow up, careers take them to other cities or even other countries, and families can't always live as close to one another as they once did.
I think that's one of the reasons I enjoy seeing families come together at Villa Savana so much.
For a few days, everyone gets to be in the same place again. Grandparents, parents, children, cousins, and sometimes friends who have been part of the family for years!

I Wonder What the Sky Has Planned for Us This Week.
I read that this week the Perseid meteor shower will reach its peak.
My first thought was... "I hope the skies cooperate." Then I laughed. Because this is August in Puerto Vallarta!
The skies have minds of their own. We might see shooting stars. Or we might watch clouds drifting over the bay. We might even be treated to distant lightning dancing quietly over the Sierra Madre.
And honestly... I'm happy with any of it.
Living here has taught me that nature doesn't perform on command. It simply invites us to slow down and pay attention. Some of my favorite evenings at Villa Savana haven't been the ones with the most spectacular sunsets. They've been the quiet ones. A gentle breeze. A glass of wine. A conversation that didn't need to end. Someone noticing the first stars. Someone else pointing toward the mountains. Those are the moments I remember.

One of my favorite plants at Villa Savana is called Cuna de Moisés.
If translated into English, it would be "Moses' Cradle."
Most English speakers, however, know it as the “Peace Lily”.
I love that the two names tell different stories. One speaks of comfort and shelter. The other speaks of peace. And somehow... both seem to fit perfectly.
Every time I walk past one of these beautiful plants, I find myself slowing down for just a moment. Its deep green leaves don't compete for attention. Its elegant white bloom doesn't ask to be admired. It simply brings a quiet feeling of peace to the space around it.
The more present I become, the more I appreciate things like that.
Places that help us breathe a little deeper. People who make us feel at ease. Moments that don't need to be exciting to become unforgettable.
