The river went quiet today.
On the Kinabatangan, a mother elephant and her baby came down to drink. The little one kept bumping into her legs, still figuring out his trunk.
She looked at us for a long moment. No fear, just quiet understanding.
Then they disappeared back into the green, rumbling softly to each other.
Some moments you don't just photograph, you carry with you. 🐘

With a nose that looks like a perfectly ripe, over-inflated apricot and a round, potbelly belly that proudly screams "I eat nothing but unripe leaves and I regret absolutely nothing," he has achieved a level of relaxation most humans can only dream of.
