The dissapearing fishermen on stilts of Sri Lanka. A story l can really relate to you. A trip of discovery upon discovery. I was very keen in my travels in Sri Lanka to find the Malay fishermen of this island, decendants of settlers from Malaysia and Indonesia. I did. In a beach village near Hambantota, also in the southern coastal belt, I was so elated to had been invited by a small group of them for lunch near their beach in a community hut. It was here that l discovered that they could really talk Malay. How cool is that.
